Dow Jones International News - Dori Media: 2008 Rev +70%; Expects To Stay Profitable In 2009 - February 20th, 2009

LONDON (Dow Jones) Dori Media Group Ltd. (DMG.LN) Friday posted 2008 revenue up 70%, and said that despite anticipating that sales will soften in 2009, it expects to remain profitable. The company, which is active in the field of television, said 2008 calendar group revenue rose 70% to GBP27.6 million, while pretax profit fell back slightly to GBP3.3 million from GBP4 million the previous year.

It said sales weakened in the final quarter of the year and it expects softer sales in 2009, due to increased caution by television program buyers in view of the current general economic conditions. However, Dori Media said its board expects the company to remain profitable for the year to December 2009. It said productions of new Telenovela series in Argentina and Israel that it was unable to commission during the last quarter of 2008 due to delays have now been secured for the first half of 2009. The company added that it thinks the strength of its business model and its efficient operations make it well positioned to meet ongoing challenges, although it said it has limited visibility.
