Dori Media has licensed the VOD rights to the youth-targeted novela Rebelde Way in Spain, and has picked up international rights to the Argentine novela Sos mi vida (You Are My Life) from Pol-Ka Producciones.
Sos mi vida, an 180-episode series, premiered on Artear in Argentina, averaging a 45-percent share last month and regularly attracting more than 2.5 million viewers. It features Natalia Oreiro and Facundo Arana, the stars of the 1999 hit Muneca Brava (Wild Angel).
Dori Media Group is acquiring the rights to the TV series in partnership with external financial investors who are contributing 50 percent of the cost of the acquisition and will be entitled to approximately 30 percent of related revenues. Pol-Ka will retain the rights in Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay.
Nadav Palti, the president and CEO of Dori Media Group, commented, "Once again, Dori Media Group has partnered with financial associates to buy from Pol-Ka Producciones what we believe will be a successful telenovela around the world. Sos mi Vida promotes universal values and has been hailed by the critics and viewers in Argentina. We are delighted to add the series to our growing library of telenovelas. Through this agreement, Dori Media can derive substantial revenues from the full rights on the series as well as related merchandising."
In Rebelde Way news, meanwhile, Dori Media International has licensed the production to Cableuropa for inclusion in cable operator ONO's VOD service in Spain. The license period runs for 2 years from April 1. ONO has the option to extend the license to the second season of Rebelde Way for six months from the start of the license period.
